Let’s face it, writing and maintaining a blog on a regular basis is not easy. And it takes time. Not to mention, where do all the ideas come from? With all the other tasks you have related to running your business, blogging can often take a backseat.
Personally, I find my best thinking and ideas come when I am actually not in front of my computer. I find my thinking is more free when I am not faced with (and sometimes intimidated by ) the blank page in WordPress and of course, the distractions of the ‘net.
Ideas will hit me when I go out for a walk, take a ride on the metro, out shopping, talking to clients or simply hanging out with friends.
I like to keep a notebook with me (I’m old-school!), or if that isn’t available I’ll quickly jot down an idea in the Notes on my iPhone. There are also lots of apps that you can use to dictate your ideas or even entire blog posts. For the most part, I like to keep it tech free and remove any barriers between the idea and getting it down on paper.
I really think the key is to get out there and draw from your experiences and observations in order to be able to create and be able to relate to people. And sure, that can happen via online channels as well whether it is through a Twitter chat or a discussion on your Facebook page.
What inspires you and gets you writing?
